The TM-D710GA dual-band mobile transceiver is a powerful upgrade over standard FM mobile radios, designed for serious amateur radio operators who demand advanced APRS, GPS, and packet communication capabilities. Operating on 144/440 MHz (2m/70cm) with up to 50 watts of output power, this unit delivers reliable performance for both mobile and base applications.

Unlike many radios that require external accessories, the TM-D710GA features an integrated GPS receiver built directly into the control head, allowing full stand-alone APRS operation without the need for a computer.

Advanced APRS & GPS Functionality

Equipped with a built-in AX.25 Terminal Node Controller (TNC), this transceiver supports independent APRS use right out of the box. GPS-based functions include position logging, waypoint marking, target tracking, and automatic time synchronization, greatly expanding operational flexibility.

Developed in collaboration with Bob Bruninga (WB4APR), the creator of APRS, the onboard firmware enables messaging, position reporting, direction and distance sharing, and weather data exchange — all without requiring a PC connection.

Expanded Packet & Network Capabilities

When connected to a computer, the TM-D710GA supports 1200/9600 bps packet communication, IGate terminal operation, and digipeater functionality. With optional interface cables, the radio can also be configured as an EchoLink node terminal, allowing seamless voice networking over the internet.

Simultaneous operation as an IGate, digipeater, or EchoLink node is possible, making this radio an excellent choice for advanced network setups.

Flexible Control & User Interface

The transceiver features a large, detachable control panel with individual LCD displays for each key, enabling fast and intuitive access to functions. Two mounting options are included, allowing either in-vehicle installation or desktop use.

The LCD backlight is user-selectable between amber and green, ensuring optimal visibility in various lighting conditions.
